Feedback on my new site please

Hi All.

My new site was launched last week, and has processed a fair few orders.

Is it possible for some of you guys to let me know what you think of my site, in particular how clear it is how to place an order, and also the general feel.

It is still being constantly updated, I just want to get some feedback before I go for a big push.

It's not bad - took a while to figure out how it worked, especially how to get the prices and the update button, so some instructions on each page would be helpful.

Nice. Like Gary, it took a while to figure it out.

For example, to see a price come up, you have to select a product and then you are prompted with "Please select the quantity you wish to order from below:" and you see some prices - I know this should be obvious but it isn't. If it were possible to show the price below at zero before anything is selected it would be more obvious what is going to happen. (It does become clear where you read the text, but you know what people are like.)

I tried to work the site like a traditional online shopping basket (the default for most people I would guess) but I could not see what I had selected and added to the basket so to speak. No way to select a number of different items and process them. You would know better than me what the normal process is for most people. I may be strange but when I have ordered this kind of stuff in the past I have gone in thinking ..." I need x flyers of this size, and y of that size; z thousand full colour and xxx thousand 2 color spot" and want to cover off my formats before specifying he content of each.

One other point. Possibly just me. When I first clicked on the link to your site without any though as to who you were, I could not at first figure out what you did. Perhaps if I had been googling, I would have known what to expect. The order I noticed things in:

5. Special launch offer - but could not read it easily so looked elsewhere
6. Design Online
7. Leave a message offline
8. Authentication
9. Menu (already aware but looked at it, and then it dawned on me what you did)

Design is not bad. I suggest to have examples to your products and some portfolio of designs. Still did not figure out how to upload art work. On news page you can have more titles on one page than 5, still have a lot of space below.

I like the way you have not crambed to much on the homepage, as many people do at the moment.

I take it there is more to come, but it is looking well organised.

Very well organised.
As said by others the price information is a must.
Basically it all comes down for the payment of the service which the customer needs to see upfront to avoid any doubt of hidden cost.
In other words the customer might even think it would be a waste of time if he spends 10 mins to select what he wants and then land up knowing that the price is high.
But over all it is user friendly which is A+

The service sounds great, I however got a bit confused with the menu on the left hand side, I thought that maybe you could split it - have two menus, one with all the regular website stuff - ie about us, contact and the other menu with all the products, I almost didn't notice the contact link at the bottom.

Apart from that, great!

I love the constructive criticism, as this is exactly what I want as it will enable me to tweak the site to make it as easy to use for as many people as possible.

Up to now the site has been driven by my ideas and instruction (and my web developer has done everything as I have asked. (get in touch if you want a great technical site www.openmindmedia.co.uk ))

I must say it is refreshing as a new member to this forum to get some genuine replies and suggestions, unlike the other forums I have looked at where all members tell all the others how great their sites are with no real criticism.

Keep those ideas coming!!!

The site looks nice. Technically you might want to look a little more at moving your structure through to CSS layout and removing the tables. For SEO you're not really providing any structure to your content (h1, h2), etc. and well although it's not terrible there you could looking at doing some work on accessibility.

As has been previously mentioned, you need examples! When I click on the "balloons" page, I expect to see some balloons! Also, whilst the whole row is highlighted on-mouseover for the navigation bar, only the text itself acts as a link. This might confused some visitors. As you're using xHTML, you can use fixed width anchor elements.
