If you are interested in other ways to increase your website credibility you can check out the Stanford research - it is available online:

Fogg, B.J. (May 2002). "Stanford Guidelines for Web Credibility." A Research Summary from the Stanford Persuasive Technology Lab. Stanford University

Here is a summary of some key points they make:

1.Make it easy to verify the accuracy of the information on your site.
2.Show that there's a real organization behind your site.
3.Highlight the expertise in your organization and in the content and services you provide.
4.Show that honest and trustworthy people stand behind your site.
5.Make it easy to contact you.
6.Design your site so it looks professional (or is appropriate for your purpose).
7.Make your site easy to use -- and useful.
8.Update your site's content often (at least show it's been reviewed recently).
9.Use restraint with any promotional content (e.g., ads, offers).
10.Avoid errors of all types, no matter how small they seem.

There are certain logos available by companies offering services to certify your website against DDOS attacks, anti spam, hacker safe, virus safe and etc...

I always find that these logo's tend to bring a large amount of trouble with them, specially those hacker safe ones - it just inspires some little runt to try crack your system to just say "Thought you we're hacker safe? l00ser!"

Ha ha, yeah I've heard this happens also with and people were actually targeting the mcafee sites. Bt at the same time i've heard that conversion rates rise with these types of verification too, is this true, and is there anything else i can use instead?

Trust is earned through networking these days; not the use of third-party logos. ;)

I do see what you mean though. Have you tried some kind of endorsement or sponsorship by a well-known brand? :)
