Hi all,

Does anyone work in the field of Facilities Management? At least... I think that is the correct term!

I'm looking to approach companies who manage commercial buildings, who may currently be in search of contract window cleaning, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks...

Facilities Management is the right term :-)

you might want to try http://www.ifma.co.uk/
or
here http://www.bifm.org.uk/bifm/home

Most companies that have a dedicated Facilities Management person/team are quite large - so you are into networking territory! Attend some of their events and you will get to meet the facilities people.

You can also try door knocking around business parks (that is how we found our window cleaner for our building!) - it isn't as glamorous but it can be very effective.

What size of contract are you seeking?

Andy

I'm a Facilities Manager for a large UK company with 7 sites.

Basically you need to write in the first instance, and introduce yourself to the property manager of all suitable buildings in your catchment area. You may strike lucky and find someone who is looking. Follow up your letter with a phone call, but try to get the right person's name so your call is much more direct.

Don't visit in person unless you have an invitation, you will almost certainly not get anywhere with that approach.

best of luck

Phil
